XPS 8930, replacement PSU recommendation?
Hi,
I bought my system in 2018, and it's power supply is completely dead now. I looked at the measurements and ordered MSI MAG A550BN and although its the same size but the connecting ports seem different to me. I reached out to Dell support and they don't carry the part anymore. All I could get from them was to search for WC1T4 460W Power Supply.
So I want to ask if there's any reliable PSU that anyone has experience with their XPS 8930 tower?
A quick amazon search gives many results. Any advice would be highly appreciated.
Also, I initially planned on installing it myself but it looks like there's one connection that goes under the fan so I might have to end up getting some professional help. Any suggestions for that as well?
I have BestBuy, Ubreakifix and local repair shops. Which one should I go for? Looking for a cheaper and reliable solution.
Thanking you in advance!

If OP wants an easy swap in look for Dell oem psu

xps psu has precut cable length and a slim sata power connector for dvd, the latter usually not offered on standard psu.

There are plenty of sources of OEM power supplies for this model, assuming you're sure it's the power supply that's faulty and not the system board.

A reputable local shop is generally a better bet than a national chain.

Thanks guys! Appreciate your advice. I asked around local shops and they are expensive. $200 flat fee for just the diagnosis. I eventually gave it to ubreakifix and they have $100+ fee for just installation of psu and they'll install the part purchased from their distributor only which will be around $150. This is my first pc repair ever and I'm in shock with such exorbitant service fees.

yes pro labor is expensive but for those who really can not DIY, either throw it away and upgrade or pay for pro service. this is like repairing washer dryer appliances not always worth the expense.
