XPS 8930 maximum memory

I have a XPS 830 desktop with 16Gb memory now. It has a 2.90Mhz IntelCore i5-9400 cpu.

What is the maximum memory I can install in the system. Presently have 2-8Gb cards now.

Been reading thru the forum and see 32Gb would be doable by adding a matched set of 8Gb cards.

Can I remove the existing cards and get 4-16Gb cards??

Just texted with Crucial Memory and they state the max is 32Gb.

Is there other issues (like the BIOS,....) that would also determine what I can go to?

Found this in the XPS 8930 service manual

Table 2. Memory configuration matrix
Configuration                                Slot
                        DIMM1      DIMM2      DIMM3     DIMM4
8 GB                   4 GB                             4 GB
16 GB                 8 GB                             8 GB
24 GB                 4 GB          4 GB           8 GB          8 GB
32 GB                 8 GB          8 GB           8 GB          8 GB
64 GB                16 GB        16 GB         16 GB        16 GB

Since its listed, does that mean it works for all configurations and age??

Dell XPS 8930 supports maximum of 64GB of memory across the boards.  Only the memory speed was limited to 2400 MHz with i3 CPU and 2666 MHz for i5 and i7(k).

Besides the memory specs you found in Dell manual, Crucial memory tool also indicates 64 GB as max capacity.

Hi

The crucial memory tool states 64GB indeed, but only refers to 3200 Mhz.

Has anyone tested that frequency ?
