XPS 8930, Killer E2400 wired connection stopped working, weird fix

I replaced the battery in my UPS a couple of days ago. Even though my router and XPS 8930 were disconnected from the UPS, when I rebooted both, my wired network connection wasn't working. The Killer E2400 was present in Device Manager under Hidden Devices but shaded out as if the driver was present, but the device was not. The wireless network connection was unaffected.

I did all the usual troubleshooting things - uninstall the Killer network driver and all related Killer software, reboot the computer, use a different ethernet cable, plug another computer into the router with the same ethernet cable on the port normally used by the XPS 8930 (it connected). I grudgingly accepted that somehow the onboard wired connection was fried and began the process of researching PCI-e network cards.

Then, I shut down the computer. And for some reason, I tried unplugging the power cord and pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. Plugged the power cord back in, booted the computer up and the Killer E2400 adapter was present in Device Manager. I was able to turn the Ethernet connection on in Windows 11, turn off the wireless connection, and I was able to get online again.

Has anyone else heard of this fixing a wired network connection?
