XPS 8930, front fan install?
I have the 8930, with the flat smooth front bezel. I'm interested in installing intake fans in the front. There's room for 2 (80mm and 120mm). Has anyone done this and what was the result? Were the fans able to suck air through the vents around the front?
I did the incense test, and it looks like nearly all the air going in is going now is through the PCI slot covers in back. Some was going in through the big vent in the side cover, but not much. I couldn't be sure any was going in through the front - but with some suction it might. I'd like to put a small fan pushing OUT through the PCI covers, but considering that's where the air is coming in now IDK if it would work. Maybe a fan pushing out through the side cover would work better.

The upper front fan is 92mm, drive cage mount and the lower fan is 120mm with fan adapter mount. They are both working well to move air toward CPU and PCIe graphics slots.
To increase intake air, you must upgrade the top exhaust fan from 92mm to a larger 120mm and update to a premium CPU cooler if you have a pancake cooler.
Review discussions with fan upgrade here.

This user recommended "get the front fan from the Aurora R5-7, with the included black plastic bracket, . Buy a PWM fan splitter, open the case, slide battery compartment open, slide fan into place, it clips right into the front, install splitter, reconnect old fans, and you're done."

@Chino de Oro Thanks. I saw the mounts on the cages, but I didn't know what size it was for.

If you need/want to upgrade system fans, provide some screenshots or describe what your system currently has and we may be able to suggest more specific solution.

@Chino de Oro exactly!! . . . you must be clairvoyant!
I saved it in MS Paint, which worked for a short time.

@KetchupGabe in my case it was wedged in with rubber window gasket, but I have seen double-sided tape, velcro, zip ties, etc.
