XPS 8930 BIOS Update Failure Resolved
I've been running BIOS 1.1.24 for some time. The Support Assistant didn't find anything newer, but the Dell site had a few. I read the warning to update to 1.28 before going to anything later. So far so good.
Let's just say that things go south real fast if you try to run the updates from within Windows, which I've done frequently in the past. Taking the tips from other posts, I put the update on a USB stick, hit F12 on a restart, and used the BIOS flash function. Worked find, updated to 1.28 then 1.31 without issue.
So why in the world does the Dell site still prescribe updates from within Windows?

Hi
There is a warning about Bitlocker encrypted drives, as they could be a problem.
So your choice seems to be the best option.

Note 1: Before updating the BIOS, ensure that you suspend BitLocker encryption on a BitLocker-enabled system. If BitLocker is not enabled on your system, you can ignore this step.
Is what DELL say, so I think that updates from within windows are achievable with caution.
