XPS 8920, standard 24 pin layout?

I have a 460w right now in my system. I did some looking and apparently it wont work because of the 24 pin layout in the motherboard being proprietary so it would fry the motherboard. Please tell me if it will or not because im woried that it will fry the motherboard.
