XPS 8910, video card upgrade

XPS 8910

XPS 8910

I want to purchase a new graphics card for my XPS 8910 running Windows 10 Pro, 64GB RAM. Present card is Nvidia GeForce GT 730. Looking for a recommendation for a replacement card compatible with my computer.  Thank you.

If you can find an OEM Dell GTX 1080 it is a blower style graphics card that will mitigate some of the aforementioned thermal challenges.

PCNight here and Userbenchmark here have some suggestions. However it depends on your PSU. There were 2 rated types available, a 460W and an 850W. The type you have makes a big difference as to the compatible GPU.

in addition to JOcean’s advice, it may be noteworthy that 8910 has a small interior air flow space due to the psu swing arm design very different from previous XPS models (8900/8700 etc.), which means you probably do not want to upgrade to a high power gpu in this chassis. Otherwise it will turn into a hot oven inside causing overheating problem not only to gpu but cpu etc.  I would suggest a gentle upgrade from gt730 to gt1030 or 1050/1050Ti/1650.  stay away from AMD gpu because they tend to have higher TDP at similar performance level.  Also the cpu of 8910 is intel 6th gen not a good match with modern 3000 series nvidia gpu.

Thank you.  I'll do some looking around based on your suggestions.  I should point out that my 8910 is working flawlessly and I can't justify replacing it.  But my most demanding app is Adobe Photoshop and the AI based Topaz Labs enhancements run very slow.  I'm just looking for a moderate performance improvement when using these graphics intensive applications.
