XPS 8900, supports Intel 6th gen cpu only

I like the 8900 case better than 8910/20/30 but I think 8900 only supports 6th gen. no 7th gen

anyone has tried bios mod to support 7th?

I got a HP omen that supports both 6/7th gen albeit only two DIMM

I do not mind having no M.2 slot on board as the oem slot on 8900 is pciex1 any way

There is no mod to enable 7th gen support (and even 7th gen isn't supported by Windows 11).  If you are looking to buy a used system for some years to come, don't take anything less than 8th gen CPU support, period.

I am okay installing Win 11 on i7-7700 HP omen motherboard (using modified Win 11 install media) in Dell XPS 8700 case.  it has 4 core compared to 6 core of i7-8700.  front panel power switch is standard.  I will see how it does compared to 8700.
