XPS 8700, Windows 10 blocks downloads from the file hosting site
Environment: XPS8700, Windows 10
When downloading files from the file hosting sites, it always got interrupted after one or two hours. Click Resume and then the downloading ends up with empty file. The error message says "it can not download due to network issue".
The following steps have been tried to find the reason:
- Used different browers, failed.
- Used wifi card to download, failed. (also tried to repair files with commenads like sfc /scannow, dism /online ...)
- Used usb tongle to download, failed.
- Used ethernet to downlad, failed.
- Reinstall Win10, the download still failed.
However, desktop with Win7 can finish the downloading successfully.
Please advise what causes the issue and how to fix this issue?

I have seen this issue before usually due to browser not able to memorize which point in the download process it got interrupted. Sometimes a third party downloader is better than common mainstream browser in this. Win 7 in OP pc may be using an older and different browser.

Already used multiple third-party download sofware, like Jdownload, FDM. It seems that the file hosting websites block them and does not share the real download link.
Browsers in Win10 is much better than those in Win7. It seems that browsers are not the reason.

Seems to be an internet connection issue of this pc on both wireless and Ethernet that pc is not able to maintain a steady connection. OP previously posted about upgrading 8700 wireless card to no avail. OP reports same pc running Win 7 is able to maintain internet connection, but Win 7 is not recommended due to lack of modern security update. At this point recommend using a different pc (desktop or laptop) running fresh Windows 10 to test OP router. If a different pc running Windows 10 has no internet download issue, then this 8700 mobo needs to be replaced, or use a different pc for file hosting site download need.

Unstable Windows 10 internet while Windows 7 works indicates a Windows 10-specific driver or power management issue. Try to set power management to never sleep or hibernate during download.

@redxps630 Is it possible that Windows Defender or software conflict causes it?

If it is interruption after 1-2 hr it suggests a power management issue that the pc tries to save power. See reply above.

Thanks for the suggestions. They did not reslove the issue. Actually, I tried them before posting the for-help article

What if you set pc power management to never sleep, never shut down hdd monitor etc. and watch whether DL is still interrupted after 1-2 hr.

Keep screen on all the time too during download so you can monitor DL progress without having to move mouse or keyboard to show display. You want to minimize distractions to pc on your long arduous download.

Since it persists across browsers, connections, and even a fresh Windows 10 install, this points to a driver, firmware, or power/network timeout issue on the XPS 8700 rather than the OS itself. Check NIC drivers and BIOS updates, disable power-saving options on the network adapter, and test with Windows Defender/Firewall temporarily off long downloads often fail when the adapter or security layer resets the connection.
