XPS 8700, will not boot

I recently removed cpu and gpu for cleaning and now I only get four beeps and a blank screen after reinstalling. The cpu is the I7 and it has a Geforce gpu. I have tried replacing the battery, clearing the cmos and using the display port connection for the monitor. Can someone identify the beep code or give me a direction, please?

Make sure the memory modules are firmly seated - four beeps is almost always a memory failure error.

With the system unplugged, remove and reinstall each module.

I have finished removing and reinstalling all memory in all slots and still four beeps. If not the memory then where does this go from here. What am I missing? I really wanted this pc to last long enough to get a new one, but with all the component shortages and scalper prices on gpu’s I don’t want to be forced into a bad decision because of a sense of urgency. Is there any hope for this unit or do I need to try a motherboard replacement or bite the bullet?

Oh, I now see this second post and I replied to the other one.

Remove the CPU... and now I have to ask, what did you do? Remove the Heat Sink as well? Should have used new gel after doing that. Also, those CPU pins can bend break. Could you have bent one? Is it securely inserted?

I have reseated all mem sticks, tried each stick individually in each slot, but result is still the same; four beeps. Is there any place to go from here or is it time to call it?

The path forward is a mainboard replacement, but whether that makes sense is a question only you can answer.  The boards aren't much less expensive than a complete, used working system.  You can likely find one years newer for not much more money.

So what changed? It was booting one day and not the next? The indications are RAM is bad. I think you confirmed this.

So, was there a power surge when on?

Do you have a KNOWN good RAM stick to try?

Have you tried the memory in another PC?

Not saying the motherboard could be the problem, just asking questions.

Another simple task to try. Change the CMOS battery and see if you can enter BIOS.

@AD924 , If a memory error occurs regardless of combos of previously working memory sticks, it's likely not a problem with the RAM itself.  Since the CPU was reseated, it's likely a CPU contact issue (with one or more CPU to memory lane contacts).

Someone with exactly the same issue on your machine here:  Like yourself, they removed and replaced the CPU prior to having the problem.  Resolution:  "Unfortunately a very small hardly visible amount of thermal compound must have been on my finger and made its way to the pin side of the processor, cleaning it up with rubbing alcohol resolved the 4 beep issue."
