XPS 8700, PSU Replacement Options?
I have tried to do research beforehand, and one avenue pointed me towards THIS psu, but the reseller on ebay that i bought it from sent me THIS psu instead
Yes, i know i'm playing with fire when it comes to switching out a PSU. yes, i know these prefabs of yesteryear and beyond have strict power requirements and all that. YES, i know my warranty for this desktop is done and gone, so im on my own if i mess something up. and YES, it would be FAR better if i got a new desktop entirely, a new prefab even, but everything likes to be expensive, and i kinda want to build my own instead of grabbing ANOTHER prefab. so until i get enough money and/or things get LESS costly, i have to use what i got
This is a screenshot of my current specs Now i aimed to stick with the EVGA bronze psu, but i got a EVGA gold psu, so i want to know before i have to deal with a longer wait time. WILL the G3 (Gold) psu work with my XPS 8700, or should i stick with the Bronze PSU instead? for the record, the default PSU my system STILL has, it still works, but i want to know if either/or PSU's above will be sufficient replacements for it beyond grabbing the SAME default PSU from amazon/ebay

Was the price the same for "gold"?
If you compare the specs side/side, they are a little different. "gold" would seem to be better, and comes with 10 year EVGA warranty, but "bronze" comes with 5 year warranty. "gold" also appears to be a little more efficient than "bronze" too.
The physical sizes are a bit different, but as long as "gold" fits inside the case, that shouldn't be an issue. And the number/length of various connectors are different, "gold" seems to have more of each than "bronze".
I don't think it's going to be a problem, but your PC, your decisions...

OP asking
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G3, 80 Plus Gold 750W, Fully Modular
vs
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B1, 80+ BRONZE 750W, Semi Modular
in terms of psu ranking
https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/xps-desktops/evga-psu-ranking/65975be2a67e331efaa37b1a?keyword=psu%20ranking
the G3 is top tier much better than B1
8700 oem psu dimensions: 150mm x 86mm x 140mm (L)
B1 80mm (H) x 150mm (W) x 165mm (L)
G3 85mm (H) x 150mm (W) x 150mm (L)
both EVGA psu are longer than oem psu. but the G3 is only 10 mm longer and a closer match of oem psu dimensions. G3 is the winner for future replacement

oh wow, i......uh, didnt expect to get any replies at all down here. I don't usually use this community forum, but for further clarification, something i SHOULD'VE gone further into (my fault, im sorry), i was more or less asking on the POWER specifications
as in, IF i switch out the default PSU and put the 750 "gold" psu into it, will it power everything just fine? im only a bit paranoid because of this old post i found, and idk how real or not it is

just disregard negative comments in the old post. there had been misinformation in the past and it is good that forum is now improved.

so when it comes to power draw, or the portion about "SPECIFIC power requirements on the 3.3v/5v rails" on the old post i quoted (specifically that old post and ONLY that old post, not the ones above or below it), there's no worry and i can use the 750 G3 with my old as all [REDACTED] XPS 8700?
side note: i DID try to edit my initial post yesterday when i noticed an oops, but for some reason the forum kept giving me weird errors or something along the lines, so i couldn't do anything (im using microsoft edge to post since the dell forums don't seem to like my firefox configuration)

"power requirements on the 3.3v/5v rails" is misinformation and has fooled some readers.
