XPS 8500, screen not appearing, orange motherboard light is on

Question

I have an XPS 8500 that one day just froze. I turned it off and back on and the screen no longer appears on any monitor or TV. There is an orange light that is on, but on my motherboard. I used HDMI and VGA (the only compatible ports for my GPU) and both do not work.

try replace cmos battery w a new one then clear cmos settings by motherboard RSTRTC jumper steady orange LED on motherboard is normal

First, do redxps630's suggestion. Second, I suspect the GPU card.  Do you have a different one that you can try?
