XPS 8500, 10TB storage options?

XPS 8500

XPS 8500

i bought an XP8500 when it first came out but barely used it. now though, i have a nephew who wants to use it but i want to upgrade the hard drive before giving it to him.

i currently have a 2TB drive in it and i was wondering if it could handle much larger drives like 10TB or more

Yes, it could handle 10TB or larger drives.  Your nephew will be appreciate the performance if you put Windows 10 on a SATA SSD as well.

OP could upgrade the built in mSATA to a larger size such as 128 -256 GB (Dell stock mSATA is 32GB).  XPS 8500 can support two 3.5” hdd.  One of these could be upgraded to a sata 2.5” ssd in a 2.5 to 3.5” adapter.

@Chino de Oro , Similar question for XPS 8500. Just now I tried to add a 14TB Seagate Mark 2 drive. I am very sure I did correctly connected all the cables, because the old drive which was connected using these cables has been booting successfully for years. The old drive is still working with no problem. But for this 14TB drive it was not even spinning. Not booting. Why?
