XPS 8300, solid amber light + dimm2 and dimm4 four beeps
My PC wasn't turn on, so I replaced the power supply, now there's a amber light under AUX_PWR steady on, and searching on this forum, I found a way to do some tests with the memory, so I tried one by one stick and do the four beeps only in dimm2 and dimm4. Replaced the cmos 2032 battery too. It's time to replace the motherboard? :(

it could be the some cpu socket pins were bent (if cpu was removed from socket before) or something else wrong with mobo that killed dimm 2/4 slots.
it is old mobo so can consider upgrade

@redxps630 to do this it's just remove the RTCRST jumper from 1 and 2 pins and put it on 2 and 3 right?
I did this with the power supply off, waited for about 10 seconds then relocated the jumper to its original position pin 1 and 2.
Then power on the power supply but the amber light is still there and the beeps too, my PC only works if i use only the dimm1 and dimm3...

@redxps630 after you told some pin were bent, I tried to check them and...
There are, just 1 litte pin slightly bended...
After carefully unbending it, turned on the pc with the four memory slots the PC turned on normally.
Thanks for the help!

@redxps630 This PC has fourteen years in my life! I recommend Dell for everyone.
The power supply had an burned diode, I've just replaced that diode, now I have 2 working power supply, but for now, I'm using the new one. The original Dell power supply will be an backup.

looks like you are more handy than most Dell user. it is generally recommended not to open up psu due to lethal current/voltage inside.
I still have a 8300 w i7 in good condition not in use some day may become tech museum piece

Red, you can upgrade your 8300 with Win 11 24H2. It will work.

mine came w a 32 gb mSATA which I removed. have not touched that unit for long time but may put a 80GB mSATA in it to pair w a 1TB HDD and try the Intel RST (old school cache).

You may be disappointed with cached speed. Just use a 2.5" SATA SSD drive.
I would not guess OP's bent pin issue since no mentioning of processor maintenance/upgrade work. You're amazing legend!!!
