XPS 730x, boot from USB
I can not seem to make XPS 730x boot from USB having MS Win 11 installation media. I reset bios to factory default. this model has legacy bios only. Is it because my USB is not a flash drive but a CF card in a USB reader. It works as a bootable USB on many other Dell but it seems XPS 730X does not detect it during POST?

I think this is the reason. in older desktop that has only legacy bios, it is not able to boot from Win 10 USB installation media which has EFI boot partition and no MBR boot sector for legacy bios to boot from.
on the other hand, in slightly less old Dell that has both legacy and UEFI bios, when legacy rom support is enabled, it would be able to boot from MS installation media even when the bios mode is selected as legacy. this legacy is not the same as the traditional legacy BIOS. this is a legacy simulated by UEFI, which is why it can boot from the MS USB.
Legacy ROM support is a feature in the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) that allows it to load and run legacy firmware drivers
