XPS 730x, accessing CPU

Hey everyone, I am upgrading my XPS 730x to an i7-980x chip. As old as the computer is, it took some time and a hair dryer to loosen the thermal paste and remove the CPU fan. I am now struggling to remove the lever so I can access the CPU. I have read a few theories on how it is supposed to move, from pushing down in the center where the bend is to pushing at the tip. What is the proper way to remove this bar? Thanks!
