Trouble with BIOS update
XPS 8930
I'm trying to update my XPS 8930 from Bios ver. 1.1.28 to ver. 1.1.30.
The support assistant downloads the updated version, starts it and then I get a amifld64.sys BSOD saying it's trying to go from unprivileged to privileged instructions. Any suggestions??

Known problem...
It's always safer to run BIOS updates entirely outside Windows. So...
1. Download the BIOS 1.1.30 .exe file onto an empty (non-bootable) 2-GB USB that's formatted FAT32.
2. Do a normal full shutdown in Windows, not a Restart.
3. With power off and USB stick plugged into PC, power on and tap F12 when you see the Dell splash screen.
4. When the menu opens, select the Flash Update option.
5. When that screen opens, use tab key to move to middle box in right column. The BIOS .exe file should be listed there. Highlight/select that file.
6. Confirm the current BIOS (1.1.28) info in top left box and new BIOS (1.1.30) in top right box.
7. If everything is correct, tab to the start button in lower right corner and launch the update.
NOTE: PC will reboot itself several times and may look like it shut down and isn't doing anything. Just leave it alone until you're safely back at the desktop.

Also, to add on, if you don't need that BIOS update, you can always just skip it. If it addresses something that is security related, or fixes an issue with the system that you've been experiencing, then Ron's advice is good :)
