Stolen i7 processor
I couldnt get my computer to work, took apart and somebody stole my i7processor. One of the cords that look like broken hdmi also has bent prongs on the motherboard and was broken. I dont think this was the computer I originally bought. The processor isnt even intel? Some foriegn older model design. I was hoping somebody could help. I already know if I tell police they probably cant do much about that. Here is the deal, somebody else is using my processor and motherboard I am sure of. Which there should be a way to track down right? Anyway, they are wrong to take something I worked very hard to pay for. I hope I get my things back and in working order. This isn't right to do to anyone.

No, there's no way to track a CPU or mainboard, but if it's an XPS desktop model, the only CPU they've ever had in them is Intel -- and nothing else will work with an XPS mainboard.

What model is this? Some Dell Desktop's and All-In-Ones did have AMD CPU's in them.
Odd though, you took it apart (what exactly and why?) and did you leave the parts laying around? Was this in your home or somewhere else?
I assume you put the system back and it still works or have you not tried?
If the motherboard was switched, the Service Tag would be different then. You could possibly track down you old service tag and see on Dell's site what the one you have now was shipped with and if fairly new, possible Dell could help you and tell you who had the Service Tag, but I wouldn't bet on that.
