Realtek Audio Crackling Since Motherboard Replacement
My motherboard recently died unexpectedly, after my PC was no longer under warranty. Since this motherboard is no longer commercially available from Dell, I had to purchase a replacement via third-party. It's the same model of motherboard, but since I replaced it, my audio is crackling to varying degrees, whether I use my monitors running through my PreSonus Audiobox 22VSL interface, headphones directly connected to the PC with the PreSonus unplugged, or headphones connected to the PreSonus USB audio interface.
The entire reason I purchased a Dell XPS is to use it for a music recording station. I tried repeatedly uninstalling/reinstalling the Realtek audio driver using the driver from the Dell website for my specific PC, but the issue persists. I read elsewhere that installing the High Definition audio driver can help, but this errors out (error 0001) every time I try to complete the installation. Uninstalling the Realtek driver, rebooting, and then trying to install the HD audio driver resulted in the same error. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for my USB audio interface didn't help. Sometimes it sounds a bit better after a reboot, but overwhelmingly not (and the sound is never perfect, even for a bit). Windows Audio Troubleshooter is no help, and the issue happens regardless of which application is making sound.
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

not sure which XPS you have. buying a replacement mobo can be tricky just like buying a preowned car. It drives but there may be small issue here and there.
if you cannot upgrade to a new pc, consider try a add in creative sound card. If it is an older model it may still beat the onboard Realtek audio.

Why are you using Realtek if you have a recording interface unit? Realtek has bad latency. I don't use Realtek with my DAW machine.
Have you updated BIOS and other Dell drivers.
Resplendence Latency Mon may help in troubleshooting.

Disable Realtek audio and use the superior nVidia HD audio.
A side benefit of having a nVidia GPU (get one if you don't already have that).
