RAM upgrade for XPS 8700
I have a Dell XPS 8700 (ordered in 2013) with 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600 MHz - 2DIMMs and also 4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333 MHz. I would like to know what is the maximum RAM this unit can support and what RAM set is required, and also what is the installed 4GB RAM for? Thanks.

max 32 GB
1600 or 1333 ddr3 desktop only
if you have 2 x 8GB 1600 and 2x 4GB 1333 that would downclock all to 1333 and still dual channel.
