Is there anything on the HDD?
Long story short, while replacing my SSD, I accidentally reformatted my HDD. Everything’s working fine now and thanks to copious backups I did not lose any data.
I just wanted to know is there anything that was hidden on the HDD that I should probably restore? For example, an unlabeled volume with system restore information or something like that? And if so, is there somewhere I can go to download it?

Did you reformat the drive, or repartition it using the Windows installer?

reformatted - accidentally cloned to hdd instead of to new SSD so it reformatted the whole thing in that process.

It depends on how you wrote the image -- was it a single partition, or did you write a complete drive image to the drive in question? If the former, the rest of the drive should be intact. If the latter, it'll be gone.

@ejn63 the latter - everything is gone.
That's why I'm wondering if anything system-related was there to begin with, and if so if there's somewhere I can download it from. Not asking about my own data, that's all fine because I had back ups, just asking if there was anything that came factory installed on a hidden partition somewhere that I may not have been aware of but should replace.

If the answer is no, I'm all good. I just wanted to make sure I didn't accidentally erase some system data that I might need down the road.

@JustMe394
Hi
To recover data, even lost partitions, I use Linux Mint and add in TestDisk, which recovered/displayed lost and long forgotten partitions.
If it exists TestDisk will display it I'm sure.
It is not user friendly, IMHO, but extremely powerful.

Lots of sites to explain HOW2.

@anne_droid I feel like I must not be being clear about my question because the answers I am getting are all to a different question. I am not trying to recover data. All my personal data is fine.
I am simply asking if any system files came pre-installed from Dell on the HDD (as opposed to the SSD). I was hoping someone would know one way or the other. If they did exist I'm sure I can get them from Dell somewhere. If they didn't exist, I don't really want to waste a lot of time digging.

Any SSD/HHD formatted loses data, it is wiped clean.

Nothing, all data is lost, during instalment of Windows. You have the option also of deleting partitions, if shown on screen, during windows installation, it will show delete, leaving the capacity partition of SSD to install windows.

@JustMe394 No systems, just a cleaned partition on any HHD/SSD, they are data clean, with a partition to load Windows. Go to dell.com, under Support. Download the system tool that will scan you PC and download any needed drivers. This also periodically updates the complete PC.
