How to flip bracket of XPS 630i cooler to fit XPS730X/Area51/Aurora R1/XPS 9000/9100
Dell designed a clever changeable tower air cooler which can be used in both LGA775 model (XPS 630i, XPS730) as well as LGA1366 model (XPS730X, studio XPS 9000/9100 “aka 435T”, Area 51 R1, Aurora R1)
all these 6 models use a Dell hard plastic back plate JU616 mounted on chassis floor and the heatsink has 4 coarse thread machine screws that have a good bite on the hard plastic (coarse screws are better at bite but less good at precision mount)
If you look at stock pic of N764D which is 630i cooler the heatsink mounting screws are in the inner square of 72x72 mm for LGA775.

The bracket holding those screws are fastened in metal slot by 4 very small screws. You can remove those 4 small screws and slightly bend the bracket to detach it from metal slot. You then flip the bracket so the 4 mounting screws are at the outer square of 80x80 mm for LGA1366. The next step is tricky but you need to reinsert the bracket into the metal slots then fasten them using those 4 small screws. I have thick fingers so this last step took me some time to accomplish. If you feel this is too hard, you can spend a bit more $ to buy bracket ready flipped LGA1366 cooler.

XPS630i cooler does not work for studio XPS 435MT (mini tower) which although has LGA1366 socket does not use the hard plastic back plate but a metal bracket attached to back side of motherboard.
435MT can only use its specific cooler P041K
(which is specifically described for Mini Tower)

related question:
can you use area 51 R1 liquid cooler in XPS 730X or studio XPS 9000/9100? both liquid cooler use LGA1366 mounting ring for the liquid pump. the ring is also mounted on the Dell hard plastic backplate.

using the above W550R I found out the liquid cooler pump mounting ring also has a reversible bracket with LGA1366/LGA775 options

Note that A51 R1 and 730X use same motherboard. therefore W550R is c/w 730X motherboard. If the bracket is flipped, it is also c/w XPS 730 LGA775.
There is a very uncommon liquid cooler option for XPS 630i. It uses same Asetek liquid cooler with the bracket flipped.
Dell also has a retention ring for the cousin AMD model XPS 625

need DP/N for the LGA1366 retention ring
