DS: What is the longest you have kept an XPS Desktop?

How long have you kept an your system up & running? If you have kept it running longer than 5 years what do you use it for?

I bought a new XPS 8700 in July 2015. The computer still has the original hardware configuration that has been upgraded to Windows 10 Home and it still runs great. Presently, it is my wife's "every day" computer.

The 8950 is the first XPS I have owned. I received it on 12/23/21 and I am still using it. I have a Inspiron 570 that I updated the CPU to an Athlon II X4 640 back in 2012 or so and that computer runs my weather station. I also have an Inspiron 3650 that is hooked to the basement tv and used for streaming and surfing the web.

I bought an XPS430 in 2009. It was made of real metal and ran every Windows from Vista to Windows 10. It performed heroically every day until - reluctantly - it was sent for recycling last year.

I still have my Dell XPS 8500 i purchased in 2012. It has an Intel i7-3770-S291 3.4 GHT Turbo 3.7 GHZ, Nvidia GTX-1050-Ti S120, Crucial MX500 1 TB drive and 32 gig Micron 16KTF1G64AZ-1g6e-4 x 8GB MEMORY. I use it as a backup to my 8930 and it still performs well and runs Windows 10PRO with no problems. It has been a great machine.

XPS8500 from 2012.

Still in use as my wife's PC. Been upgraded since, more RAM, SSD, extra hard drive, and a replacement Video card. Can only run Win10 though.

I have an XPS 9100 I got in January 2011. I used it until I got my new 8950 in January 2022.  The 9100 was working well except I had trouble starting it at times for a month or so before I got the new one. It still has the original battery, which I think may be the problem. It has an i7 930 CPU, 9 GB of DDR3 SDRAM, a 1.5 T HD, and a Blu-ray read, DVD/CD read/write drive. If I get ambitious, I may reinstall Windows 7 and try to sell it. I have installation discs including the Dell drivers.
