Z00D boot attempt - flashing amber activity light

Question Z00D boot attempt - flashing amber activity light

Hello Wyse community,

While doing inventory on some spare Z00D items, I tested each with booting to the latest image. All succeeded but one. This one flashes amber constantly at about 3 beats per second. No video on screen. This test bench is where I test and work with all my Z00Ds.

Unplugging and replugging returns the same state of amber flashing/no video. Holding power button until it turns off and turning it back on returns same amber flashing state.

Thank you for your advice,
Eric

Hello Eric,

I have not come across this issue but I know that the colour of the LED is swtching from amber to green when the BIOS has completed it's self-test and starts loading the operating System.
Seems the unit is having a Hardware malfunction and should be sent to the Service Center for repair.

Just as followup, this problem was due to sloppy troubleshooting on my part. Seemed that whomever put it in storage here removed the RAM and never noted it on the documentation. When I pulled it out of storage and powered it - RAMless, it gave the symptoms I listed above. I never expected the problem to be missing ram.

Thanks Mhaase for your assistance and to Dell warranty support for gently telling me I am incompetent.
