WYSE C90LE and Remote Connections
WYSE C90LE and Remote Connections
(Ignore the title, wasn't sure what to put)
Hello all,
Recently I've purchased some WYSE C90LE, and I'm going to explain what I hope to accomplish with them and hopefully I can get some feedback as to how it can be done.
Basically what I want to do is replace all my PCs with thin clients. Each user will login only ONCE to the thin client for authentification and will immediatetly and almost seemlessly be put into a remote desktop connection. The connection is actually to a server running windows server 2003( or 2008) and I'm using VMware. I'm pretty new to all this networking stuff so feel free to dumb down stuff.
I thought maybe I could setup the thin client to just startup the RDP session automatically and the user has no idea they are actually remote connecting. But I ran into problems such as disabling all the local machine stuff they can do to their thin client (been trying to limit it via Group Policy), also when a user connects to RDP and logs off, it takes them back to the local screen of the thin client but I want them to disconnect from an RDP session and go back into the RDP login screen. (Hopefully skipping the connect to server prompt and go straight into the login).
I've been banging my head trying to figure out how to get this to work, and I just know it can be done. This was the reason I considered/bought thin clients. Any help would be awesome!
P.S I want to avoid scripts as much as possible, but other than that I don't care about implementation. Just has to work and be aesthetically pleasing to the user (ie they just see a login screen and their deskptop not knowing that it's actually a remote connection).

I'm actually trying to do the same thing but with about 10 Thin Clients..Haven't figured it out yet though.
