Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024

I couldn't find a thread about this new OS available from Dell. I don't have a specific question, but wanted a place to share feedback and questions about this release.

For context, I followed the Windows 11 upgrade guide using a USB drive on an OptiPlex 3000 Thin Client that shipped with Win10 IoT 2021. I was actually preparing to order a unit with factory-installed Win11 IoT 2024 today after seeing it become available in the product configurator, but a few hours later the option was gone.

Anyway, here are my observations on the Win11 image so far:

  1. The desktop background source file in C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\DellWyse is only 1280x1024, which appears very blurry on a modern monitor.
  2. The registry value "ProductName" in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion is incorrectly set as "Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024." The Settings app (System > About) correctly displays Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC Version 24H2.

Thank you for sharing this.  I have shared it with engineering and will provide feedback here when I get it.

As for the Optiplex3000 with a factory install of Win11IOT, the early posting was a mistake and it is targeted for the end of April, you can check with your Dell sales team for specific dates.

@e8 thanks for the info.  I received some feedback I wanted to share with you.

Anyway, here are my observations on the Win11 image so far:

  1. The desktop background source file in C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper\DellWyse is only 1280x1024, which appears very blurry on a modern monitor.
    1. we understand that the current size doesn't meet modern standards, we'll work with team to provide higher-resolution options.
      1. do you have any preferred sizes or resolution standards?
  2. The registry value "ProductName" in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion is incorrectly set as "Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024." The Settings app (System > About) correctly displays Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC Version 24H2.
    1. Unfortunately this key is not Set by Dell, but we will pass along the info.

@DELL-Scott H Thanks for helping out.

  1. 1920 x 1080 should be the bare minimum. All of the native Windows 11 wallpapers are 3840 x 2400.
  2. Agreed, not your issue. I was looking for a speedy way to detect the OS in a script, but I see now that this key is unreliable.
