WYSE THINOS 9.0 – POOR PERFORMANCE & SCREEN RESPONSIVENESS

Hi guys,

I am experiencing a weird issue with the poor performance of Wyse 3040 & 5070 clients while interacting with any app on the screen, e.g. scrolling and browsing websites. The latency of the screen is very high and the impression is as if the Citrix VDA which the client connects to is 200ms+ away while it’s on the same LAN.

I just installed ThinOS 9.0.4024 on my test 3040 client and I still get the same issue as in the previous releases. When I was testing ThinOS 9.0 beta I did not have this problem but then every official release does not work properly in my environment as seems slow.

Strangely, this happens only when using on-prem StoreFront servers as via Citrix Workspace “mycorp.cloud.com” (pointed to the same Citrix VDA servers) everything works fine.

I suppose it’s something environmental in my network which causes this issue, is there anything I can try to fix this? I don't really see many settings to try in WMS, I only tried to play with Proxy and Netscaler ones.

The same problem observed on both 3040 and 5070 clients.
Windows Server 2012R2 & 2019 VDAs
StoreFront 7.15 & 1909
Tried with on-prem XenApp 7.15 farm as well as CVAD Service and Cloud Connectors

Thanks for your help!

Hi David,

We see the exact same issue after we upgrade our 3040 and 5070 from 8.6_511 to 9.0.4024.

Please let me know if you find a fix to this problem.

Best regards

Frederik

Please get support cases open so engineering can review logs.

After further troubleshooting, it turned out that the issue was caused by the "EDX Adaptive Transport" Citrix policy which is ON by default.

After disabling the above Citrix policy the client is usable, HOWEVER, its performance and responsiveness are still noticeably behind ThinOS 8.6.

This is a huge disappointment as I've been waiting many months for the EDT support, hoping this would provide users with a better experience. Now, not only EDT is broken in my environment but the Citrix Workspace app implementation in ThinOS 9.0 seems to be poor as well.

I cannot stress enough how ThinOS 9.x. let me down. Now, I am thinking of trialing IGEL clients or handing over managing thin clients to someone else as I cannot provide my user base with acceptable experience by using ThinOS 9.x.

Hi David,

Just found the below release notes for Citrix workspace app 2009 for Linux. It seems to be fixed in the newest version of workspace app for Linux, dell just have to release the 2009 workspace app for our Linux to our wyse clients

Hi,
I am afraid I cannot see the URL you posted.
I've also tested my client with earlier versions Citrix Workspace App but obviously, I will test the new one as soon as it's available.

Thanks again mate, I will test CWA 2009 as soon as it's available in ThinOS 9.x.

Hello! Has anyone had success with ThinOS 9.1 and CWApp 2012 on the 3040 clients? I had some device lockups in early testing so we stuck with 9.0.4024 for our rollout this week; most users are fine but several are having the same lag issues mentioned here.

Thanks in advance!
