Wyse 5070 not retaining audio settings

I have a bunch of Wyse 5070s running latest ThinOS 9.0.3030, and have an issue with them in that they keep changing their audio device.   Users plug in a headset and all is good, then they wander off to a meeting or for lunch, and when the come back the audio is set to a difference device.

I think what is happening is that the monitors, which have speakers and webcam and which connect to the terminal via USB, are powering down and back up and consequently show up in the terminal as the 'most recent connection'.   So when the user walks away from their desk for more than 15 minutes or whatever, upon their return and they start using the system again, the screen wakes up and reconnects to the terminal.

I have tried using WMS policy to set the audio device to the name of the headset, but not had much luck with it.  It seems the headsets (mostly identical Jabra Evoke2 units) all have a slightly different name, and the policy doesn't have much effect as a result.

Any ideas?  It's driving my users mad.

As this article is quite old, I would encourage you to be validating with the latest ThinOS (9.1.6108) and WMS build (3.6.2).

I had the same problem for months, and finally figured it out with the aid of Dell Support, after MONTHS of back and forth with them.  The issue has to do with the the screensaver timeout.  We had ours set for 15 minutes, and whenever the Thin Client would activate the screensaver, the audio routing would muck up.  We just disabled it completely.  Not ideal, but it worked.  Now we still have a problem with the headset microphone randomly not working, but that's been identified as a defect now(DTOS-9890), but I don't know when that's going to be fixed and released yet.
