Wyse 3040 on ThinOS 9.x and Browser Content Redirection

Hi guys,

Have you had the chance to test and see how Citrix Browser Content Redirection feature works in real life with Wyse 3040 clients and 9.x firmware?

I was thinking to use this feature for our internal/intranet live/dynamic reporting websites which perform poorly in Citrix while work much better on fat clients, laptops or desktops. I’ve been playing with Citrix Policies (Video Codecs, Frames Per Second, Visual Quality) but this doe not really help much for our internal reporting web pages and they still tend to be slow, laggy of behind on Citrix clients.

I thought that maybe Browse Content Redirection would help.
Are you guys able to answer the below questions?

1. Does it actually give users a better experience?
2. Would this work for multiple websites opened on 3040s, i.e. in multiple Chrome tabs if you enable BCR in Citrix Policies for ALL sites users open (not just for a number of whitelisted URLs)?
3. What impact on Wyse 3040 CPU and memory usage does BCR it have? I am asking as I have the chance to buy Wyse 5070 ThinOS clients and was wondering if the more powerful client would give users any better experience if it comes about BCR.

Thanks!

Testing this feature today.  Build 9.0.3030 of ThinOS and 2006.1130 of the Citrix Workspace app.
BCR results in the CPU of the device being pegged at 90%.  CPU of the VM at around 4%.
Not using BCR has the VM using 50% CPU.

Hi Guys,

Can we share specs of your VDAs and hosts? I experience the same issue, HDX seems to not kick in. We also tried with a 5070, same issues, with the latest and greatest version installed. Lag can be seen in the small Citrix HTML HDX test site here: https://www.citrix.com/digital-workspace/hdx/html5-redirect.html.

We have isolated VxRails just for Citrix VDAs, and they all have Tegra GPUs in them, even a small rolling banner on a website is lagging. 4CPUs, 100GbRam each VM. All flash storage setup.

Thanks!
