Wyse 3020 – Request for non-public firmware 8.6_418 / 8.6_422 (certificate bug)

We have a certificate validation issue on several Dell Wyse 3020 Thin clients running ThinOS firmware 8.6_412 since December 31, 2025. This is a known certificate bug, which we understand has been resolved internally by Dell in firmware versions 8.6_418 and 8.6_422. However, these versions are not publicly available.

It's a bit like the millennium bug of 2000: If we reset the date to 31/12/2025 every time, we can work around this bug. And we are aware that this concerns outdated hardware.

Can anyone help us with these Firmwares?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Sincerely,
IT Ranson

I am having a similar issue. If the terminal reboots after January 1st, 2026, the system time resets to 2013 or 2019, which makes the certificates invalid.

For now, I'm downgrading to 8.5 to work around the issue.

@user_2f3b07 Thank you for your quick response to this matter.
Could you confirm that ThinOS 8.5_024 English Raw Image file for Dell Wyse 3020 thin clients, should do the trick?
I'm asking this because I have a Wyse 3020 with firmware 8.1_027 which also has this bug.

In my case, downgrading from 8.6_412 to 8.5_24 resolved the time synchronization issue, and therefore the certificates are valid again.

However, if there are versions newer than 8.6.412 that fix these bugs, I would prefer to upgrade rather than downgrading my entire fleet.

@user_2f3b07 I'v upgraded now the TC with 8.1_027 to 8.5_24 and downgraded one from 8.6_412 to 8.5_24 with no luck. The same error persists on both TC.
It seems our quest is not over yet. Glad it solved your problem.
