Why such varied times from when installing firmware upgrades and packages?

We have experienced extremely varied completion times when pushing updates to devices.  One device will take 10 mins and everything is complete while a second device that's the exact same model and specs receiving the same updates is going on 30 mins and still is not compete.  In a busy 24/7 healthcare environment makes planning for downtime extremely difficult.
