Webex Meeting VDI plugin stopped working recently on 9.1
Opened a case on that but I believe it's a global problem with recent webex meetings update.
As of last week, webex meeting had an update which broke all old VDI plugins, even windows ones. With windows we had to force all our users to download and update to latest version of vdi plugin from webex download site, that fixed it. With Dell 3040 thin clients we're stuck with webex saying "mse::VDIService::initialize4HVDClient, VDI client is not a compatible version, start normal Webex meeting!"
Tried downloading vdi plugin "for ThinOS 9.1" from webex downloads, it is an .ipk file which is not recognized as application file by WMS. Had a case opened with them too, so far I have trouble explaining that our thin clients do not have any CLI interface where I can execute *nix commands.
Any suggestions? Or maybe someone knows how to access CLI on wyse 3040 clients (latest 9.1 thinos from dell site)

On 4/14/2021, a new 9.1 firmware (9.1.2101) was released, as well as Cisco Webex Meetings (40.10.11.15_6) and Cisco Webex VDI (41.1.0.17621_3) apps. None of those updates appear to address the issue.

Small update with info I found. I might be mistaken in some of my assumptions but that's how I see the problem now
1. New webex meeting plugin (pkg) works only with webex meeting app version 41.3 or lower. You can test it if you install webexapp.msi of older version (41.3 preferably) and delete autoupdates in %localappdata%\Webex right before starting the meeting (so webex don't have time to download new version). Video and audio works, vdi plugin works. Unfortunately it will download 41.4 version automatically and you can't do anything about it.
2. Ipk plugin file from webex site is for 'Dell Hybrid Client(DHC)' OS - customized ubuntu distro with WMS agent. Unfortunately if is not available for our wyse 3040 because of low system specs.
3. Webex meeting site supposedly can be locked to 'slow channel' and you'll get desktop app v.40.xx, but according to docs you cannot switch existing site from fast to slow channel, I suppose you can only create new one. Also not sure how it will work when you join a meeting from other company on fast channel - will it upgrade your local app or will it run in some kind of compatibility mode
So, we're stuck and waiting for pkg with support for meetings 41.4...

Thank you AndyScull for your finding, we are in the same situation for the auto update.
I have one more issue, may be you already resolve it. When I create a meeting before to enter into it I can use my Jabra Headset and my C930e webcam in the preview, but when I enter into the meeting the connect audio loop until it failed.
My thinDevice (5070/9.1.2101) is behind a proxy, may be we need to pass the Proxy setting to the webex plugin on the thinDevice ? Are you also behind a proxy ?
thank you.

Hello!
About audio loop - it is because your vdi plugin on thin client cannot connect to webex cloud.
As far as my tests went, thinos proxy settings are not used by vdi plugin, I suppose proxy is only used for connecting to WMS or some other management cloud. I may be mistaken since our proxy server is strictly controlled by our parent organization and I cannot even get logs to check if the connection attempt was made.
Our solution for "Connecting audio" loop was to open direct internet access from thin client VLAN to specific webex cloud IP ranges. See "How Do I Allow Webex Meetings Traffic on My Network?" in their help, sadly I can't post url links here
IP ranges are mentioned there, we opened access to all of them since this was recommended (instead of opening only IP range in your country). As far as I remember we opened ports 443, udp 9000 and maybe those "Alternate Webex Client Media" ports, nothing else. It all worked for a week then webex meetings 41.4 came out and now everything is dead.
For now we have a temporary manual fix for specific users who really want to use vdi plugin on thin clients - we install meetings 41.3 on their machines and disallow write to %localappdata%\Webex\Webex in user profile. This way meetings client cannot install newer version and has to run installed 41.3 version, which works with existing ThinOS VDI plugin
I didn't hear any news from our webex administrator, so probably he didn't get any solution from our cisco manager either

In this link:
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/fr-ch/wyse-thinos-maintenance/wyse-thinos_9.1_rn/citrix-workspace-app-feature-matrix?guid=guid-4da13840-9ddd-46f7-9554-c89adec8b536&lang=en-us
The Citrix Workspace app feature said that Webex Meeting VDI support the Proxy.
"Unified Communication Cisco Webex Meetings Offloading (wVDI)
Supported
Supports Webex Meetings optimization mode through proxy server which is configured in ThinOS Network Proxy by APT/Wyse Management Suite. It does not support the proxy configured by DHCP Option 252."
How I can setup that ? in the APT/WMS I can just add WMS;RTME;HORIZON;WVD application in the proxy list,

We are not using the WVD application so doing the above configuration in WMS 3.2 solve our problem of having Webex Meeting VDI behind a proxy
If you don't put an application WMS try to put all applications (WMS, HORIZON, etc.)
I don't know if it's normal but it works.
On the VDI when you join an Webex meeting your are prompted for login/password if your proxy require an authentication.

You have to ask for a so called Webex site downgrade at Cisco via their support.
I know its a pain but as long as Dell does not release the newly submitted plugins from Cisco no other chance.

Thank you. We already did the downgrade to Webex SlowChannel now. After that point, everything works perfect including audio/video. Both parties are staying on the same version (41.2.7).
I guess release date for a new Webex Meeting Plugin from Dell is scheduled for this week!
