Updating 5070 Thin client to ThinOS 10 fails

Updating our 5070 thin clients from ThinOS 9.5.3102 to ThinOS 10 2508 fails.

The hardware specs are supported: 4Gb RAM and 32 GB Storage.

This can be seen in the 'install-Root0_0127.log':

I tried updating the BIOS to version 1.34 and delete the Citrix workspace App package, but this did not solve the issue.
Updating optiplex 3000 thin clients with 4GB RAM works without issue.

tried rebooting, factory reset, firmware 9.6.1080, disbling secure boot, re-downloading upgrade firmware, same result. I can install Thinos 10 via USB however. Not really an option for thin clients in the field.

Hello,

I am also interested in whether there is a solution for this.
We have just under 900 thin clients with Windows IoT 2019 here and want to migrate from Windows to ThinOS in the near future. We have the Dell Wyse 5070 Extended model with 8GB RAM and 32GB SSD. So, theoretically, the requirements for migrating to ThinOS 10 are met.
We can successfully convert the thin client from Windows IoT to ThinOS 2306 and start an update to ThinOS 9 2502 with all the necessary packages. However, the migration to ThinOS 10 fails with the same behavior via the WMS server.
Installation with a USB stick can be carried out successfully.
A few test clients of the Optiplex 3000 type with 8GB RAM and 32GB SSD can be successfully migrated to ThinOS 10 via WMS in the same device group.
We tried all builds of ThinOS 10. Even the client with only ThinOS 9 and no other application packages fails. We wanted to test whether it was due to storage space.

I am curious to see if there is a way to solve this.

Hi,

I would like to ask, if DELL is working on this issue. No feedback to this time from any Dell Community staff. It would be great, that this issue could be fixed.

Best regards

Dell released a new Upgrade firmware for 9.x to ThinOS 10.

Root_2508.10_0161_signed.pkg

previous version was Root_2508.10_0127_signed.pkg

I tried the new firmware but it still fails to update 5070 TC.

I do see different info in the nda2conversion.log:
