$TN not getting asset tag? thinOS 9.x

I've just copied settings from 8.x to 9.x in the WMS, We're trying to get the new devices working and looking like the old devices as much as possible

The 8.x devices all get identified as the asset tag we enter in bios manually (Txxxxx).

I've done $TN in the 9.x settings, which I assumed would be the setting to set the terminal name to the asset tag but it's not happening.

How do I set this in the 9.x? (/ the 8.x?)

OK - turns out I was being an [redacted], but the process is different in the new OS.

In the 8.x, you have to change the device name manually on the device (I had done this previously but had forgotten about it)

In 9.x you have to change Host Name (not Device Name because why would anything be consistent or obvious) in the WMS. And then reboot it looks like

Isn't it called "Terminal Name" in WMS ?

My problem is that I apparently can't set it to the DNS name ($DN does not exists)

ThinOS 8 defaults to DNS name, for good IMO.

ThinOS 9 naming defaults to WTC   but the worst point is that it's not even possible to revert to DNS name.

Why the most obvious naming scheme (i.e. DNS) is not an option ? This is flabbergasting.

Its referred to as Terminal, Device or Host depending on where you look. As far as I can tell they're all the same thing.
