questions / Problems with v9
we use 3040 and 5470 ThinClients
in production we use v8.6.303 that works ok
WMS is on version 2.1
i´ve been playing a little with v9 and came across those problems:
after updating the test clients to 9.0.2108 i can´t update the packages anymore.
test clients have Citrix package 1912 installed. i´ve uploaded v2006 to the repository and edited the policy to use the new one. client gets the policy refreshed command but doesn´t update. in the log it says Same version - ignoring
if i make a Policy exception for a client and just save and publish (don´t have to change anything as 2006 is already selected) the client gets the new package installed.
the same happens with JVDI package
problem2: one client lost connection to WMS server. i can login, use Citrix, i just don´t see him in WMS. log on client says wms: tries to apply cached configuration to system.
it looks like it somehow has a wrong WMS adress stored
i can´t change anything on the client itself as everything is grayed out
problem3: ist connected to problem 2 i think
for v8 clients we use DHCP options to configure WMS URL. v9 uses another formating for the URL so the one for v8 wont work( i must say this was a really dumb decision from Dell to change this). how do you update a client from 8 to 9 without manually editing WMS URL on the client itself so he can connect to WMS again and get the v9 policy?
problem4: we use German Locale. in v8 if you set System Language to German and connect to a Citrix session you get a German keyboard layout within the session which is ok and what we expect. Terminal servers and Win10 desktops are all in German. In v9 seting Locale to German will change the language on ThinOS but connecting to a Citrix desktop will result in a English keyboard layout.
a side question... how do you enter Admin mode on a client? i have configured it. a normal user can change only mouse and display settings. but how do i as an admin enter admin mode to change the rest of the settings?

after upgrade from 8.6 to OS 9.x, what works fine, we had to reset the thinclient, after reset, thinOS was able to make bios upgrade and connecting to storefront.

keyboard, we still have the problem, if you connect over VNC remote, dont know what kind of layout is loaded, not able to enter @ or other letters
