Multi-Monitor span fail - Upgraded 3040 to 9.1.6108

We are in the process of updating our approximately 700 Wyse 3040s to ThinOS 9.1.6108. With the Citrix 21.12.0.18.3 Package. We have a handful of users who are having problems with spanning dual monitors in the Citrix session (LTSR 1912 CU4). Span will work fine for the day then when the user returns the next day spanning in their Citrix session does not work.

This started happening after the ThinOS update.

Spanning on the 3040 works fine and monitor resolutions are reported in Display settings properly, including left\right orientation.

This problem happens with the way the Citrix session spans the monitors. The user is unable to move the session to the second monitor or span it across both.

I have not seen that.  I would recommend opening a support ticket and providing all needed logging for engineering review.

I've seen similar issues with 5070's.  Changing the default to Span and allowing giving the user the option to change it manually seems to have resolved the issue.

Thanks for the feedback. I have not personally seen this problem, my level 1 team has reported it. It's possible it is user error, not knowing how to properly make the changes with the Citrix session. Wyse 3040s that have been brought to me as "broken" do not have a problem when I test with them. Below is a screen shot of our WMS monitor settings.

Does the ThinOS login box keep coming up on the non-default monitor?  I don't control the dual settings, other than the span setting because 9.1 randomly decides which monitor will be screen 1 (regardless of how they are connected).  When I upgraded from 9.1.4x to 9.1.6x today, the login screen is on the right, the settings panel is on the left, and when I log into Citrix (LTSR 1912 CU4) and check the display, it thinks the right monitor is the default.

I've tried swapping the settings (make the wrong monitor default) and then swapped it back, it works as expected, but if the unit is rebooted it just goes back to the wrong default.

This functionality bug is consistent across my 7 test 3040 units... I'm ready to roll it back, this is crappy Quality Testing Dell!

I certainly recommend opening a support case on this.  The next release of ThinOS will be in May known as 2205 as we switch to naming releases based on a YearMonth naming convention.

I have seen some dual display issues listed in resolution for the next build, but would definitely encourage you to discuss your specifics with support so details can be shared with engineering.
