Newer USB Flash Drives not visible on USB Firmware Tool

Newer USB Flash Drives not visible on USB Firmware Tool

I'm having trouble finding a USB flash drive that works with the USB Firmware Tool. I found one, but the newer ones are now manufactured with the new Windows 8 specs causing them to show as "fixed" drives rather than "removable" drives. Unfortunatelly, the firmware tool requires the drive to be a "removable" drive. As this new standard in USB drives began in 2012, I'm thinking it's going to be harder and harder to find "removable" USB flash drives. The first drive I tried was the SanDisk Cruizer 16 GB. I followed all the steps for that drive, but realized it didn't even come with the U3, it was seen as a "fixed drive" The next drive I tried was the Staples Relay 16 GB drive. It worked fine, but was 200 MB too small. So, I tried the Staples Relay 32 GB drive, it doesn't work. The 16 GB drive shows up in Windows as "Removable" the 32 GB shows up as "Fixed." There is quite a bit online about the new requirements from Microsoft for them to show as "Fixed." Wondering if there are any other solutions to enable the firmware tool to work on a USB flash drive that's showing as "Fixed".

I'm using a Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 32gb thumb drive as well as a SanDisk 32gb Cruzer. Both were seen by the firmware tool.

Nilsene,
This is the case with Most of the SanDisk branded sticks. I have not seen this problem on any other bran.
