Litigation

I am fairly new to the procedures in litigation cases, so I was wondering if thin client devices store any user data or activity that could be sequestered?

It's a Wyse R90

The device in question is a Wyse R90 if that helps getting an answer.

No user data is kept. Only configuration information and error logs.

Just for completeness, I had thought the Wyse Windows-based TCs also store browser history?

Not unless the write filter is disabled. Under normal operating conditions, all data is saved in RAM. When the thin client is turned off or rebooted, the data is lost.

Ah, that was a mistaken impression I had from awhile back.  I checked a Z90DE7 and indeed there don't appear to be any browser - or other 'user data' type items - in the exclusion list.

However, it looks like things may have changed for Windows 8 and 10.  I was just looking at the release notes for WE8S for another issue, and came across this:

"FBWF exclusions

\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\

\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low\

\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Low\

\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\Low

\Users\User\AppData\LocalLow

\Users\Administrator\AppData\LocalLow

Temporary Internet files, cache, history locations are set to C: instead of Z: to support Metro IE & IE 10 completely."
