Gemalto e-signer issue from 8.6_019 to 8.6_024 & 027

We are using the dell 3040 on WMS 1.3 We use a number of certified smart card readers connecting to Citrix Servers (2012 R2 ESR) when upgrading to 8.6_024 or 027 the behaviour changes. At point of the middleware client (Gemalto e-signer) authenticating the PIN entry it fails, when we roll back to 8.6_019 functionality returns and works perfectly. Has something changed with smart card redirection since _024? If so this appears to be causing issues, meaning we can not upgrade the firmware until this is resolved.
