5470 9.3.3099 Update without WMS

I have a Wyse 5470 in my stack of thin clients that I use for testing out Citrix Deployments.  I don't have WMS, and have just been doing all updates directly on the device itself.

I currently run 9.3.1129 and was able to update it locally, but 9.3.3099 won't install.  I select it in Admin Tools and it shows the pop up screen asking me to accept the EULA, but then it just drops back to the Broker login screen.

I updated the BIOS to the latest version, and re-downloaded the update, but this update won't install directly.

Is this a known issue where WMS is required?

Assuming you are referring to the Dell Latitude 5470 laptop running version 9.3.3099 of its BIOS firmware, you can update the BIOS without using the Dell Wyse Management Suite (WMS) by following these steps:

  1. Download the BIOS update file: Go to the Dell Support website and download the latest BIOS update file for your specific Dell Latitude 5470 model.

  2. Create a bootable USB drive: Use a separate computer to create a bootable USB drive with the BIOS update file. You can use software such as Rufus or UNetbootin to create the bootable USB drive.

  3. Insert the USB drive into the Dell Latitude 5470: Make sure the laptop is turned off, insert the USB drive into a USB port on the laptop, and turn on the laptop.

  4. Enter the BIOS settings: As the laptop boots up, press the F12 key to enter the BIOS boot menu. From there, select the USB drive as the boot device and press Enter.pikashow apk v10 7.0 11.1 mb

  5. Follow the BIOS update process: The laptop should now boot from the USB drive and initiate the BIOS update process. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

  6. Restart the laptop: Once the update process is complete, restart the laptop to apply the new BIOS settings.

By following these steps, you should be able to update the BIOS on your Dell Latitude 5470 without using the Dell Wyse Management Suite. However, keep in mind that updating the BIOS can be a complex process and may cause issues if done incorrectly. Make sure to carefully follow the instructions provided by Dell and backup any important data before proceeding with the update.

Hi! I have the same problem for a WYSE 3040 thin client.

I've successfully update to version 9.3.1129 using USB Imaging Tool, but now I cannot find a way to update to the latest firmware version (9.4.2103).

Using "Policy Editor" the .pkg file is loaded but nothing happens when I save the policy. We don't use WMS because we only have few clients.

Anyone has a hint for us?

Thanks!

Use the free version of WMS, or a free trial of the cloud version.

It is not supposed to be impossible, but it sounds like there is a bug somewhere in the chain. I would suggest updating to 2306 via a local free WMS install, then when 2308 is released (tomorrow) attempt to update to 2308 using the local policy editor.

If it succeeds then we can deduce there was a bug and expect it to work going forward.

If it fails to go from 2306 to 2308 locally, then there is a current bug, I will attempt to reproduce it and get it off to engineering.

Let me know how the testing goes.

I've tried to update with the latest release (of two days ago): 2308_9.4.3087 using Admin Policy Editor. Probably there's something I'm doing wrong, because nothing seems to happen.

After I load the .pkg file the EULA acceptance window is shown. After that I'm not sure what I have to do: I push the button "save and publish" and after a moment the AdminPolicy Editor windows closes itself. After the reboot the system has the same firmware as before (9.3.1129) ...

I will not have a chance to use WMS soon, so I just want to share this update, also to ask if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks again for your help!
