Umlauts / non-ASCII Characters

Umlauts / non-ASCII Characters

Hello everyone,

what do I need to setup, in order to enter german umlauts in username / password?
The umlauts are correctly displayed in the connection settings, but on the windows logon screen the entered username is rejected because the umlaut is wrongly interpreted.
This might be due to different charset settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'd also like to know how to contact the technical support directly. The support center just lists help for the hardware products for business customers.

Some further investigations showed following: (This might only be of interest for the developers or people who are highly interested in technical details)
My Windows box expects windows-1252 encoding input but the application sends unicode. I have no admin access to the windows box. And I could not find a way to enter non-displayable unicode characters. (If I could send unicode 0xe466 that would produce äf in windows-1252)
