RDP will log out the local user; VNC does not logout local user
RDP will log out the local user; VNC does not logout local user
I use PocketCloud on my iPAD to connect to work (PC) and home (MAC). When I remotely log in to my work computer with RDP, the server screen reverts to the log-in screen. This is nice because no one walking by my desk can see what I am doing without my knowledge. When I log in to my MAC at home, I have to use VNC. VNC does not log out the local user so anyone in the kitchen can see what I am typing or working on. How can I get VNC to log out the local user so my server screen in the kitchen is no longer visible while I am working on it remotely? My kids can get pretty nosy sometimes. :-)

This cannot be done. Its just the way the two programs function. VNC is like Dameware and can be used for support. So the user see's what you are doing to fix their workstation.
Its just the way they are designed.

Unfortunately that is how VNC connections work. Lion used to bring up the login screen when you were connected remotely, but with the last few updates that functionality went away. The best thing you could do is turn off your display.
