home computer not connecting after first try

i connected my ipad using the VNC connection to a windows 7 machine using the auto connect settings and got it to work. but once i disconnect on the ipad i cannot reconnect to the computer even though the connection says "on" on the home screen of my pocket cloud app. any ideas? do i have to resign in on the PC every time i want to connect? or do i just have to change a connection setting on the VNC software i had to download?
