Support for VMWare Server?
Support for VMWare Server?
Are there any plans to support direct console connections to VM's hosted by VMWare Server?
I'm running virtual machines using VMWare Server, and didn't realize at first that this app only supported VMware View

Based on your description, the only way you will be able to connect is either thru VNC or RDP to that VM. You can try installing TightVNC (or other VNC servers) or enable RDP inside the VM.

Pardon the confusion. I do understand the application also supports using VNC and RDP.
I'd like to direct connect via console to my running Virtual Machine (not VNC or RDP) and I am running VMWare Server. The "VMWare View" mode of this application does NOT support connection to this so far as I have tried.
I am wondering if there are (or could be) plans to support detection of, and direct connection to VM's running atop VMWare Server.

The PocketCloud applications supports multiple connection options. VMware View is just one of them. You can also connect to any PC or Virtual Machine using VNC or RDP, there is no need to use VMware View.

I use the Virtual Machine to VPN into a private network. Once it is connected, I am unable to access any of its ports (VNC, RDP, or otherwise) from the outside on my local network.
I DO have VNC installed on my host laptop, and can connect to it fine with PocketCloud to indirectly access the VM console. However, I run into the issue in this thread which makes this nested setup practically un-usable.
A viable solution to this containing thread or the one linked above would make me a very happy person :-).

Having a View server and a full VMWare infrastructure I would say this is fairly impossible. The view connection is produced by a server to give the console.. there is not a console connection for the servers just sitting in a ESX vmware farm short of vsphere. This would be a limitation of vmware not the software.

I'll pass this on to the dev team to see if we can add this to an upcoming maintanance release. Thanks for your patience and for providing all this information to us!
