PocketCloud for tablets without Market access
PocketCloud for tablets without Market access
I own an Android tablet/ebook reader (Entourage Edge) and would like to purchase PocketCloud. Unfortunately Google does not allow Market access for tablets. How can I purchase PocketCloud for my device? There is a specific application market at www.entourageedge.com/apps.html but PocketCloud is not available there.
This application would be perfect for tablets and their large screen sizes. Please add an option to obtain the apk package without Market access!

There's an alternative that I've gone with for now. You can install a VNC server on your desktop (I use Tight VNC, which is free) and then get android-vnc-viewer, which gives you a direct link to the apk. The software is pretty difficult to use on my eDGe, but it's a good (free) alternative while othersget on the ball.
Enjoy!

Got the free edition of Pocket Cloud from APKtor. Unfortunately it crashes on my Entourage Edge when trying to connect to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Maybe it's an old release. It says "1.0".

What a pity! This would make my tablet so much more useful. I am even willing to pay for the professional edition, but I have not found a way how to buy it without android market!
Google is said to support tablets with release 3.0 of Android. It could take years until it is available and the Edge supports it.

Ditto!
As importantly, will it even work on the eDGe?

Luckily you don't need to provide your app on a specific market. Rather, you can just give us a direct link to the .apk file so we can test it out on our eDGes. Thanks!

We are evaluating other markets but we are hopeful that Google will support all tablets in the future.

Thank you for the hint! I tried the VNC option, but was not happy with it as it does not support Windows 7 touch enabled applications. Meanwhile I tried two other RDP clients for Android and found one that works very well with the Edge and is available for download without market access. I am very happy with this solution!
