Multimonitor-Support
Multimonitor-Support
Hello there,
I'm running a Win7 Home Premium 64bit PC using 2 monitors. Sadly I can view only monitor one by using Pocket Cloud. I connect via UltraVNC, which works fine so long.
How can I retrieve the content of the second monitor?
Thanks in advance.

It seems as though UltraVNC does not support multiple monitors. I tested with TightVNC (the VNC application installed with the companion) and multiple monitors worked fine. I would highly suggested switching to TightVNC to be able to view multiple monitors from PocketCloud.

Ira, I don't think there should be any issues with having GoToMyPC installed on your computer. You should uninstall TightVNC as well as any other VNC client installed on your computer. Having multiple VNC application installed could potentially cause issues. Once you have everything uninstalled, just install the latest version of the Companion software (download here). The Companion software automatically installs TightVNC as long as there is not another VNC application installed. TightVNC supports multiple monitors, once you are connected, you should be able to pan the screen over to the 2nd monitor.

What sequence to install TightVNC and PC component?
Timely post for me. I had purchased PocketCloud Remote Desktop Pro and installed the PC component. It all came together and worked fine, except as mentioned the multi-display system (XP Pro SP3, 32 bit) only showed a single screen on the droid razr. I uninstalled the droid app and the PC component. In what sequence should I try to install TightVNC and the PC component to get TightVNC as the active communication component?
Also, I use GoToMyPC regularly from other platforms to access this same system. Are there conflicts that I should be aware of and try to mitigate?
Thanks, Ira

sorry for my late reply, busy times for me at the moment.
As mentioned above I have tried thightVNC. Untill now I used UltraVNC, which was a litte more comfortable for me to use. I uninstalled UltraVNC (UVNC) and Installed ThightVNC 2.0.4 (TVNC).
First test was a succsess. Seems UVNC managed the sending of the second monitor on a different way. UVNC is working with dualmonitor-environments, as I use this in my office. But the PocketCloud seems to be not compatible.
For me it would be interresting if it is planed to support UVNC with its dualmonitor-protocol-or-whatever-makes-the-difference.
Thanks so long for the workaround.

VNC is not listening on port 5900
In summary, VNC is not installed by default and those of us with hardware security need to adjust it to map incoming port 5900 access to the correct system.
There is a related multimonitor thread, community.wyse.com/.../show...t=multimonitor, which agrees that RDP will not support multi-monitor and that an alternate VNC must be used. That thread suggest RealVNC. I'm still not able to get multi-monitor working and possibly related to the following:
If you right click the icon and select preferences then advanced tab, clicking run diagnostics says RDP is listening on port 3389 and VNC is not listening on port 5900. Using MSInfo under services, I can see
Wyse PocketCloud WysePocketCloud Running Auto Own Process "c:\program files\wyse\pocketcloud windows companion\pocketcloudservice.exe" Normal LocalSystem 0
But no sign of a VNC service. I didn't see any errors in the MSI install log. So, I went browsing and found tightvnc-2.0.4-setup.exe, running that and configuring the server gets the service up.
Tried the Android client again, but I did not know how to cause it to select VNC method for connecting. I eventually found a FAQ to use the plus sign; goggle search gets an atta boy. Still no connection, but it only needed a virtual server addition to my firewall/router/other security hardware to map the incoming 5900 to the correct system and DMZ it.
Thanks, Ira
