Help with "staying connected with pocketcloud companion"
Help with "staying connected with pocketcloud companion"
Hi I'm looking for any possible help with my connection with pocketcloud companion.
I'm running Win 7 Pro on my laptop. I was running the pocketcloud pro app on my HTC via RDP but changed it to the pocketcloud companion (VNC) because my cable company wanted to charge me extra for a static ip address.
My problem is after a period of time my HTC Sensation and Motorola Xoom will not connect to my laptop saying "connection unavailable", but when I restart or shutdown my laptop connection settings are fine until a period of time, then goes back to "connection unavailable"
I looked basically through all the pages on this forum and this is what I have done
- I checked my RDP settings on my firewall and everything is set up for connection, the box is checked and not set to public
- I have tightvnc installed (since I need it for school) and have it set to "allow loopback connections"
- I have logged out and back in of pocketcloud companion
- I have held down the cpu name for 3 sec until the "connection" option shows up and tried it that way with no luck.
- My laptop is set to stay on without going to sleep or hibernating
- I have the latest version of pocketcloud updated from market as of today
- My pocketcloud companion is up to date
I obviously would like to always have connection to my laptop on trips using my tablet or phone without the fear of having no connection. Also, since I'm running Win 7 Pro do I even need to be using tightvnc? And lastly being on Win 7 Pro can I start my laptop from a hibernating or sleep phase. I got the impression that both of these questions related to the "home" versions of windows.
This is a great app and it works very well when connected. Thanks for the time to read this and helping me out!
BTW, Please make a RDP or VNC to connect two CPU'S!!! That would be great!
Have a good one!!

1. You can use RDP instead of VNC as you have Win 7 Pro
2. Are you using auto discovery (using gmail) or doing manual connection?
3. The error "connection unavailable", does this occur when you try to connect or it will discconect the session automatically?
4. "being on Win 7 Pro can I start my laptop from a hibernating or sleep phase" . Are you asking can we do this from PocketCloud, if so the answer is "no" currently. But we are looking different option for the same.

Hi Sarun, thanks for the reply! In response
1. I was running on RDP but changed it to the pocketcloud companion because my IP address is not static. Kept changing and my cable company will charge me more for a static address.
2. I am using the pocketcloud companion with gmail ( I was under the impression pocketcloud companion meant I was using my gmail account as the connection method and its VNC. Am I wrong on this) for my connection method.
3. The "connection unavailable" happens when I try to connect from my phone or tablet to my laptop after a certain period of time as indicated on my previous post. When I restart or shutoff my laptop, I'm able to connect with no problem.
Thanks for the help, looking forward to the reply. Thanks again

1. Is your laptop on Wi-Fi or Lan?
Can you send an email with this issue to androidsupport@wyse.com putting ATTN: Sarun . I need to get some debug logs from you to understand the problem more.
