Wyse Management Suite upgrade from 4.0.0.526 to 4.1.0.536 Problem.

Please contact support.  This has been identified as an issue that relates to the UUID of the WMS VM changing.  There is a work around that has shown to be successful (prior to updating).  

If you are unsuccessful with support, or they do not seem to understand what the fix is, please DM me the case number.

Tried to update from 4.0 HF3 to 4.1.1 which was recently released but I still have the same issue where it fails at the same point.

Even if I log with Dell support they reply back to say:

Hi,
Thank you for contacting Dell ProSupport with your request.
you are using Standard version of WMS and you have WMS installation issue which is out of scope for standard WMS users.
if you want help with this, you should have Pro version.
the case can be forwarded to the software department only if you have Pro version

Says I can get limited help with troubleshooting product installation/update issues which I am having.

So can someone help me upgrade this product.

We're having exactly the same issue and running WMS Standard as well.

Any update? I'm having the same issue.

No updates as Dell does not even know how to fix this issue. Give you an update that breaks everything. Good going Dell. Luckily I got snapshots to roll back.

I am also having this issue (4.0.0.550 to 4.1.1.111). I Have logged a call into to Dell Support. I will try to keep this post alive. The person I spoke to today mentioned that there are several people that have reported this issue so hopefully there is a fix soon.

Hi I have tried to upgrade to version 4.2 and does the same thing:

I also have the same issue going to 4.1 or 4.2 from 4.0, exact same error. Posting in here to keep track of this conversation. 

I originally had some issues with installation due to my domain name being malformed (It had an underscore in it). But I was able to install off the domain and move it back. Not sure if this has anything to do with it.

I will attempt to lodge a support ticket with Dell but I am also on the free version.

We had the same issue with WMS upgrade where upgrade from 3.8 to 4.0 worked splendidly, but from 4.0 to 4.1 or 4.2 failed with the "incorrect function" issue.

As we have the WMS Pro version we contacted Dell Support and they provided a work-around solution which solved the issue.

Basically the short version of the workaround is to generate a new WMS UUID, decrypt the vault code from Software Vault, encrypt the new WMS UUID with the vault code into a new hash and then replace the WMS UUID and Software Vault hash in their respective places.

To do the workaround, it involved Dell proprietary scripts and detailed instructions.
