WMS 3.1 HotFix 1 upgrade has broken Tomcat Service

I have just installed the new hotfix for WMS 3.1 and I am now getting an Error 1607:The process terminated unexpectedley when starting the Dell WMS: Tomcat Service.

Not sure why and unable to rollback which means that I can now not access the WMS Portal at all.

So beware when upgrading!  I should have created a snapshot before trying but stupidly did not!

I just had a great call with dell. They are working on a fix. As workaround try this:
-  Rename the server.xml of "C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Tomcat-9\conf" to e.g. serverold.xml
- Go to "C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Archive" and copy this server.xml
- Paste it in to "C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Tomcat-9\conf"
- Start the tomcat service and wait for a few sec
- Try to login

Same issue here. Upgraded from WMS 3.1 to 3.1.1 (Hotfix) on Windows Server 2016 and now the Tomcat service cannot start.

Luckily I took a snapshot before upgrading, so I will attempt to roll back and do the upgrade again.

Same issue here. I created a dell case. @kenney-s Could you let me know if there are no problems with rolling back?

Quick update I have pinned it down to a problem with the server.xml I think.

This line at the start seems to be crashing it. When I delete this line the tomcat service starts at least but then I am still unable to get to the portal!

ciphers="TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA256,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA384,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA256,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA256,SSL_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_RC4_128_SHA,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA,TLS_ECDHE_RSA_WITH_AES_256_CBC_SHA,TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA"

@kenney-s any chance you could share the start of server.xml once you have rolled back

Its stored in C:\Program Files\DELL\WMS\Tomcat-9\conf

Thanks

Thank you.

I nearly fixed it but that is much quicker!

They put the cipher at the beginning of the xml file!

Hi, I have attempted to roll back and do the upgrade again.
It is the same result. The Tomcat service cannot start.

I made a high priority case with Wyse support a few hours ago and also received the same call regarding using the server.xml file from the archive folder.
This workaround also worked for me and allowed me to star the Tomcat service and navigate to the WMS webpage without issues.

I hope they fix this soon, but I cannot understand how this update was released to the public in this state.
I am quite disappointed.

Would anyone happen to have a download link for 3.1HF1? Dell has pulled their release but I'd like to install with manual correction of XML file anyway.

WMS Hotfix 3.1.1.580, 3.1 HF1 was posted 2-25 to the support portal to fix this on-premises.

The EU SAAS Portal was patched 2/19, and the US Saas portal will be patched 2/26.
