ThinOS 9 to ThinOS 10 upgrade

If this is in the wrong thread, feel free to move it as long as someone from Dell can advise.

We have Wyse 5070's and OptiPlex 3000's.

This is the upgrade package i've tried but it fails, even after a reboot as stated in the instructions:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-uk/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=w20wt&oscode=thn10&productcode=optiplex-3000-thin-client

I've read that ThinOS 10 requires a minimum of 32GB of disk space and 8GB of RAM; our 5070's only have 4GB RAM - could this be why it's failing?

Are we also expected to move from ThinOS 9 to ThinOS 10 or will ThinOS 9 still be supported in the long term?

If anyone from Dell has any idea on the above that'd be great, as I'm now concerned we have 800 devices that won't be supported within the next few years.

Thanks.

Yes, 4GB is the current minimum requirement for moving to ThinOS 10.

Please review the thin client lifecycle document for information.

https://www.delltechnologies.com/asset/en-us/products/thin-clients/technical-support/wyse-thin-clients-os-lifecycle-matrix.pdf

The 5070 reached end of feature support in February.

Throughout 2025 there will be releases of both ThinOS 9 and ThinOS 10.  Beyond that it is unclear.

i would suggest you have a conversation with your Dell Sales team to strategize on your best options.

@DELL-Scott H  Just to confirm - 4GB is the minimum? not 8GB?

As the upgrade package here says 4GB is blocked under Fixes & Enhancements:

I've since tried adding another stick of RAM to a 5070 but the upgrade still fails, so i'm assuming they're just not compatible? even though they're listed as compatible for the upgrade?

If you can confirm the above i'll go back to our sales team with the info, thanks.

8GB is the requirement

Page 8.

The problem was, the initial release of T10 did not enforce the limit on install check.   This new build was recompiled to check for <8GB at the start, and fail if it does not meet the requirement.
